Think Funding client secures Asset of Community Value status

During 2023/24, Think Funding worked with the Nottingham Women’s Centre on its plans to acquire its building in the city. The first stage was to secure Asset of Community Value status for the building to guard against any unwarranted or opportunistic sale by the owners, Nottingham City Council. So, this was good news: Decision details: 5244 – Asset of Community Value Nomination – 30 Chaucer Street: Decision status: approved (subject to call-in).

For the record, the 2011 Localism Act specifies that a property will be considered to have community value if: a) the property’s actual current use, or a use in the recent past, furthers the social
wellbeing or the social interests (cultural, recreational, or sporting interests) of the local community, and; b) that use must not be an ancillary one, and, for property in current community use, it is realistic to think that this use will continue, or for property that has been in community use in the recent past it is realistic to think that there will be community use within the next 5 years (in
either case, whether or not that use is exactly the same as the present or past use).
