Bangladesh Youth and Cultural Shomiti, or BYCS as they are known locally, will benefit from a £437,000 grant from the Community Ownership Fund thanks to the help and support of Think Funding.
The government is providing £150 million over 4 years to support community groups in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to take ownership of assets and amenities at risk of being lost.
Voluntary and community groups can bid for funding to acquire important assets and run them for the benefit of the local community.
The BYCS project will see considerable enhancement of their existing premises bringing them up to date and expanding the internal space available for the project’s service users.
Chris Shaw from Think Funding says: “BYCS is a long standing, well-respected education and employability support provider operating in the heart of Highfields in Leicester. It is really pleasing to see that the UK Government has recognised their contribution to the local community through the award of this significant grant. The grant will enable BYCS to provide an improved learning environment for its customers and an upgrade to parts of the building that are currently not used.”
Think Funding provided strategy development and bid writing services for BYCS.
