The Centre for Digital Innovation in Philanthropy and Fundraising at the University of York is working with the Chartered Institute of Fundraising and Durham University to conduct a study about the use of AI in fundraising and philanthropy. This is a critical issue for the sector right now, as many fundraisers are turning to tools such as Chat GPT (via OpenAI) to assist with ideas formulation and bid writing. Funders such as Innovate UK already have protocols in place for dealing with ‘AI led’ bids.
Project managers say “we are interested in capturing the views of fundraisers, philanthropists, and other key stakeholders in the nonprofit sector about the introduction and adoption of AI technologies for the purpose of fundraising and of incentivising philanthropy.”
